Triaging clears piles and gets items into your task list as quickly as possible. The steps are:
- Toss junk.
- Quick communication (< 2 minutes).
- Quickly enter everything in RTM.
- File resource items for later.
- Process “hot” items quickly and early.

Caution for Remember the Milk
Make sure you click the Inbox or Unprocessed Tasks list tab on the Tasks page before collecting or triaging. This ensures that tasks don’t get put in the wrong lists.
