Turn TRO On, Turn Email Relief Off

Your tools let Trog manage emails as tasks in all places, so we’ll turn on Email Relief in Trog Bar.

  1. Click [+] near upper right corner of Trog Bar.
  2. Click Repeat Initial Interview.
  3. Make sure TRO is selected as your time management system.
  4. When asked, select Allow Trog to manage emails as tasks.
  5. The next screen shows all of your Outlook folders.
    • Find the [Action] folder by the Inbox where you actually receive your emails.
    • Check the box next to that [Action] folder.
    • Uncheck ALL remaining folders in the list, including any other [Action] folders you may see.
    • Click Next.
  6. Choose an option for handling completed emails. We recommended moving them to Deleted Items. (You can still search for them there unless you regularly empty it.)
  7. Click Done on the last page of the Interview.
  8. After the interview, click the Time Management tab on the left.
  9. Set High Priority = Do Today.
  10. Set Low Priority = Someday/Maybe/Parked.
  11. Click OK to save and exit.
  • Click the plus [+] sign near the upper-right corner of Trog Bar to see Options.
  • Select Other.
  • (Uncheck) Enable Preview Features. (Turn this off. Preview features are pre-beta, for user feedback only, and should not be relied on.)
  • (Check) Enable Beta Features.

Verify your [Action] Folder

Check Outlook to make sure the [Action] folder appears in the folder list underneath the Inbox. You will drag emails here to create tasks out of them. To make that even easier:

  • Right-click the [Action] folder in the folder list on the left.
  • Select Show in Favorites or Add to Favorite Folders.
  • Drag it around the list of favorites (at the top) to rearrange.

The [Action] folder now appears at the top of the left navigation bar for easy access.

Turn Off “Outlook Today”

You don’t want your default view in Outlook to be Outlook Today. This tries to distract you by telling you that your email is the work you need to do today. Your email is not today’s work. Process your email and work from your calendar and task list.

  1. In the Folders view on the left, right-click the topmost folder where your email Inbox appears (Mailbox)
  2. Click the bottom option (Properties for Mailbox-Your Name).
  3. Click the Home Page tab.
  4. Uncheck the box that says, Show home page…
