Never for Scheduling!

Never use task reminders to schedule tasks at specific times. If it needs to be done at a specific time, put it in your calendar with your other appointments. That’s what your calendar is for.

For some task managers, task reminders help with hard dates: they alert you to move certain tasks onto the Do Today list. If this describes your task manager, then task reminders are required for you. Go through them all each morning before your daily review, moving each task to the Do Today list and dismissing the reminder.

If you don’t need reminders to enforce hard dates, then reminders are optional alerts for tasks with hard dates. Simply look at them in the morning and dismiss them all.

Be sure to set the reminder times to an early morning hour before your daily review, so you will see all your reminders at once.

Make sure you set up task reminders properly before using them.
